Biography of Carolyn Hay Meyer

After high school I went to Mary Manse College in Toledo, completed the cadet program for teaching and taught at St. Joseph School in Monroeville for one year. The following school year (1963-1964) I returned to college and received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education. In August of 1964 John Meyer and I were married at St. Paul. Then in September I taught at Maplehurst Elementary. Two school years later I began my teaching career at St. Mary, Norwalk which lasted 40 years. Most of these years were spent in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, with the last 10 in the 3rd. Upon the merger of the Norwalk Catholic Schools I became the enrichment coordinator on a part-time basis, retired in 2009.

Jack and I started our family in 1966 with the arrival of our daughter, Christine, followed by our first son, Charles, in 1968, and our second son, Craig, in 1987. All three went to St. Paul. Chris went to Bowling Green receiving a degree in silversmithing and art education and now is the art teacher for St. Paul High and the Junior High. She has a daughter, Angelina, who will be a sophomore at St. Paul in the fall. Charlie went to Ashland University, played baseball all four years, and received a degree in marketing and business management. Craig just graduated from Heidelberg University where he majored in Sports Business and management and played golf for four years.

Jack and I will celebrate 46 years of marriage in August. We have lived just north of Norwalk for 44 years in the home we drew the plans for. Both of us are now retired and enjoying every day together. Jack has umpired baseball for many years. He has bowled for about 40 years and has now encouraged me to join him. We are enjoying bowling, activities with our family, playing cards, and traveling. The Lord has been good to us and we thank him every day.
