Biography of Donald Rospert

After graduation, I worked a couple years and then went to Miami U. at Oxford, Ohio for 2 ½ years.  At that point, I decided to serve my country and joined the Marine Corps. Served as a grunt (infantryman) in Vietnam from Oct. 1967 – Oct. 1968..

. Returned home and in April of 1969, I married my wife Terry Bellamy (SPH ’64) at St. Paul’s Church. She is a surgical RN/Physician’s Assistant at Firelands Hospital. We have one son,  Aaron.

Just prior to my marriage, I returned to work for Union Switch & Signal which took us to Kansas City, Mo. and Pontiac, Mi. Becoming tired of the nomadic life, we returned to Bellevue and with the G.I. Bill, a couple bar tending jobs, and my wife’s help,  I finished my degree in Industrial Management at BGSU. Worked at Wappler Instrument in Norwalk for 3 years then with Ford Motor in Sandusky for 27 yrs..  I retired in Sept. 2004.

Currently, I have a part time job driving for Woodard Photo graphics in Bellevue.  I serve as a Eucharistic Minister to those parishioners in the hospital and those confined to their homes.  I am also heavily involved in the Norwalk Marine Corp League where I just completed a 3 yr term as Commandant. The MCL gives me another opportunity to give back to my  fellow Veterans and the community through parades, military funerals, Toys for Tots, etc. Plan on doing further traveling when my wife retires next year..
