Biography of Dr. Ronald Hess

After graduation from St. Paul's, I enrolled in the Aerospace Engineering program at the University of Cincinnati.  I completed all my degrees there, receiving a BS in 1965, an MS in 1967 and a PhD in 1970.

In 1966 I met Connie who was then employed as a social worker for Hamilton County in Cincinnati.  We were married in 1967.

After receiving my PhD I took a position as an assistant professor in the Dept. of Aeronautics at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.  About 4 years later, I accepted a position at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA.  Then, in 1982, I moved on to the University of California, Davis, accepting a professorship in the Dept. of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, a position I've held for he past 28 years.

Our son, Christian, was born in Carmel, in 1972, and our daughter, Catherine, was born in Sunnyvale, in 1976. They are both currently living in England, where Chris is teaching Chinese History at the University of Warwick and Katie is pursuing a PhD in Forensic Anthropology at the University of Bournemouth.                    Ron   .
