Biography of Lynette Collin
I was a student at SPHS for my 9th & 10th grades, where I feel I met many special friends then my family transferred back to Michigan.
After Grauation from Monroe High, in Monroe, Michigan, I accepted a position with the F.B.I. In Washington, DC. I worked as a Finger Print Technician for over two years and I found the experience to be very educational as well as a great way to get started in the work force.
In 1963 I married Art Collin who was the son of very close friends of my parents and we have been very happy for 47 years and counting. I joined Art in Great Lakes, Illinois where He was finishing his tour of duty with the US Navy. Our first daughter, Michelle, was born at Great Lakes 8/10/64. In 1965 we moved back to Michigan, where our daughter, Veronica arrived in 4/26/67 and our son, Scott, was born in 3/11/71.
Art worked for the (then) Standard Oil Co as Manager of the Data Processing Dept. The Detroit office was closed in 1974 and we were transferred to Atlanta, GA. We learned to love GA. and the many friends we made there. However, in 1979, Art was again in charge of closing the Atlanta Office, transferring to Kansas City. I went back to work in banking while we lived in Kansas for 8 years and we were very involved with the activities with Schools and Sports.
In 1988 Amoco Co. (formerly-Standard Oil) transferred us to Des Moines, IA. I didn’t think life get much worse, but I found out somebody wanted me to know it could be and I spent the next 8 years trying to figure out what I had done to deserve it. I worked for the State Farm Claims Office where I learned more about Auto Insurance than I feel I needed to know. Art decided it was time to take early retirement so we wouldn’t have to listen to my suffering, what with the extremely hot summers, unbearably cold winters, and the awful 100 year flood of 1993.
We moved to Virginia to be close to two of our children and four grandchildren. Our oldest daughter married to David Baldacci who is (A Best Selling) Author of thriller novels and asked me to manage his office, which I am still doing. This has been a terrific time for me to see how much effort, research, thought and attention (not to mention the editing) it takes to created a best selling book.
So life goes on, even though I envisioned being retired and not having a care in the world, my children had other plans and life is good.
A Friend in Virginia,
Lynette
