Biography of Paul Roth

In 1965, I graduated from Tiffin University with a degree in Business Management. From 1965 to 1968 I worked as a field sales representative for Colgate-Palmolive selling household products in Flint, MI. From 1968 to 1976, I was a salesman for National Gypsum. I sold to contractors and builders in the Cleveland area. I was a regional sales manager for Bio-Marine Industries, selling and training distributors on medical and safety products to medical and fire services in the tri-state area, from 1976 to 1978. From 1978 to 1991, I was a regional sales manager for Armstrong Industries selling medical and training products to hospitals, heart associations. , Red Cross, nursing schools and EMSin Ohio and West Virginia. I have been in my own business since 1991, doing small construction projects and painting in residences and small commercial buildings.

I married Jeanie Gerhart on November 26, 1964. She graduated from St. Mary in Sandusky in 1960, and received a degree in elementary education from Mary Manse College in 1964. She taught in both Catholic and public schools, retiring in 2007, after 28 years.

We have six children. Richard and his wife Linda are both teachers in the Columbus area. They have two children: Alison, 15, and Paul, 12. The rest of our children all live within walking distance of our home. James sells insurance, and his wife Catherine is an executive secretary. They have two boys: Robert, 3, and Douglas, 22 months. Marie and her husband, Eric Houghtling, are both Cleveland teachers. They have four children; John, 12, Mark, 7, Erin, 4, and Julia 2. Although our daughter Kathryn has a college degree, she works as a waitress at a restaurant where she got her first job at the age of 14.Her husband, Brian Smith, is an analyst for an insurance company. They have two children; Angela, 12, and Matthew, 8.

Our son Peter, a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College will be attending Carnegie-Mellon this fall on a scholarship for a master in play writing. His wife, Olivia is a librarian for the Cleveland Public Library. Our youngest son, David, 25, is a paramedic, working for a private ambulance service.

Jeanie and I enjoy traveling and participating in our children and grandchildren’s activities.
