Biography of Sarah Hoffman
After graduating from SPH, I moved on to Kent State with a couple other classmates. From there I moved to Columbus where I taught at East High School for 3 years. Met Cise during one of the many trips back to good old Norwalk. We were married in 1969, and moved to Berlin Heights. I started teaching at Adams Jr. High in Sandusky, and stayed until I retired in 1998.
It must have been the right time to retire, as Cise had emergency open heart surgery at the end of August. I was able to be home and nurse him back to good health. At about that time, our old friend Mayor Kelly Moon was looking for a new clerk for the Village. Cise thought I would be the perfect candidate, and that was the start of my second career. After my appointment, I was elected to a couple of terms. Thought I was finally going to be able to retire when we built our home in the township, and we no longer lived in the village. Funny how things work out, because Council changed the rules. I'm now the Fiscal Officer and hired by Council, no longer an elected official. So, I'm still at it. This works out well as it's not a daily 9-5 job.
Cise and I never had children, but he has two. Between the kids, grands, and great grands we lead a full and happy life.
